WHEW! What a great few days! Drove back from the Iowa State WOCP Convention in Des Moines, IA. The show was awesome – Jane Wright and her crew really put on a great show. Packed up yesterday afternoon, headed home…..was home long enough to unpack, re-pack and head to Bloomington, IL for a seminar with Phyllis McElhinney. I’m so glad I am able to take part in this art form! So much to learn (so little time)!

In spite of the weather turning a bit chilly, the leaves are coming out in full force, the flowers are coming up and the gardens are growing. It all looks so beautiful!
While taking stock of how well

Greetings!
I’m preparing to travel to Des Moines, IA this Thursday to be a vendor and demonstrator at the IA WOCP Convention. I’m very excited, I will be able to see friends I haven’t seen in a long time, not to mention visit with a friend I worked with at IBM. When Diane and I get together, it’s like we just saw each other yesterday. I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing her. I’ll also get to see my dear friend, Nancy – we’ll have lunch and get to talk and catch up with her exciting life.
I’m attaching a photo of myself and Rickie Nishi. Rickie is a fabulous porcelain artist. She lives in Atlanta and has studied with ‘the masters’. We met at the Indiana Show in April and became fast friends. I hope to see her again soon!

For those of you who don’t know, I joined Toastmasters so I can polish my presentation skills. One of my goals is to give presentations and not only talk about my art, but inspire people to ‘find their passion’ as I have. I didn’t realize there is an award given each week to the person who gives the best speech. Well, I gave my first speech yesterday and walked away with the award. I’m attaching a photo – thought you would like to see it.
Cheers!

This past Wednesday, friends from Bloomington, IL came to the Quad Cities for a visit and a tour. Boy, did we cover a lot of ground! We met at the Figge Museum of Art and saw the Michelangelo Exhibit. The U of Iowa art collection has its temporary home at the Figge (Iowa’s art museum was destroyed in the flood of 2008). Some of the highlights were Picasso, Matisse, Pollock – INCREDIBLE! Then we saw the John Bloom Exhibit….and topped it off with African Art from Cameroon. We needed a rest, so lunched at Woodfire Grill…..then off to the Isabelle Bloom store and WaterMark in Moline. The day was beautiful……so a walk through LeClaire’s collection of wonderful shops was in order…..then drinks and dinner at Deere Run.
The day flew by. It’s so nice when friends get together. The time apart seems to vanish. We laugh, catch up with each other’s ‘happenings’ – and did I mention we LAUGH?

I travelled to Bloomington, IL yesterday and spoke at the Chapter PEO Luncheon. It was held at the Bloomington Country Club – a beautiful facility and location. I was able to share the story of my painting – how I got started, the decision to retire from my Corporate job of 30 years…..and how, once I started focusing on my passion, the flood gates opened and opportunities rushed in! It was fun, the ladies were so gracious. I loved every minute of it. I donated a ‘miniature portrait of choice’ to the winner of the raffle. I can hardly wait to hear from the young lady who won!
